(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota Department of Health says it has identified the state's first case of Monkeypox.

Initial testing confirmed that the person, who is located in the Eastern part of the state, is infected with the virus. Health officials say the individual likely acquired the virus while traveling out-of-state.

Most people with Monkeypox recover without treatment.
