(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota croppers should be expecting federal assistance next month.

The more than 900-million dollars in Emergency Relief Program funds is being spread across the state to those affected by last year's drought. That is the most money going to any state in the nation.

“We worked to secure this assistance to help our producers recover from the historic drought that impacted much of North Dakota, and it comes at a time when farmers really need help due to rapidly rising input costs,” said North Dakota Seantor John Hoeven. “We worked to ensure this program works for our farmers and that signup can go quickly. Producers will begin receiving their pre-filled applications in the next couple of weeks, which they can sign and return to their local FSA county offices. Assistance will then start going out in June.”

Producers should be receiving applications for the funds in the coming weeks. In all, over $9.25 billion is being given to states across the country for drought assistance.
