(Bismarck, ND) -- One of North Dakota's top education officials is looking for local perspectives regarding schooling.

State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler is asking North Dakotan parents and family members of students to join her Family Engagement Cabinet. The cabinet advises Baesler about state schools and give feedback on how to strengthen community ties.

“When parents and families are active and involved in the education of their children, both the student and the school benefit,” Baesler said. “The Family Engagement Cabinet provides valuable perspectives from across the state about what’s going on in our schools, and about how they can get better.”

Baesler is looking for seven additional cabinet members, to bring the total up to 25 parents and family members. Those chosen for the cabinet are selected for 18-month terms, and meet at the Capitol in Bismarck every three month.
