(Spirit Lake, ND) -- State and Spirit Lake tribal leaders are moving forward with a new policing agreement.

The memorandum was signed Wednesday and would allow specific law enforcement agencies to enforce federal laws and respond to certain legal violations on the reservation.

Spirit Lake Tribe Chairman Douglas Yankton says the memorandum of agreement can be revoked at any time. Officials have been working for more than a year on the deal.
