(Washington, DC) -- A North Dakota farmer remains in Ukrainian custody despite threats that Russia may soon invade the country.

Kurt Groszhans visited Ukraine in 2017 to farm the rich soil there, a venture he entered into with a law professor that eventually broke down. The dispute led to Groszhans being arrested last November on charges of plotting to assassinate his former business partner, now a high-ranking Ukrainian government official.

Family members and supporters say the accusations are false and intended to silence Groszhan's claims of corruption in Ukraine.
