Man killed in northern North Dakota crash

(Rocklake, ND) -- The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man is dead after being struck in a lane of traffic 8 miles Northwest of Rocklake just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

Authorities say 65-year-old Charles Huovinen was slouched on his knees on Highway 281 near mile marker 221 when an SUV driven by 41-year-old Carlee Thompson ran into him. Thompson and her two juvenile passengers were not injured.

A cause for the crash is under investigation, and possible charges are pending.
