(Bismarck, ND) -- Another major leader in the Republican party here in North Dakota has announced he will not seek re-election.
House Majority Leader Chet Pollert announced Monday afternoon he will not seek another term in his position.
“This has been a difficult decision, but one that is best for me and my family. It has been an amazing and fulfilling 24 years and I want to thank all of the citizens of District 29 for putting their confidence in me. This job is not always smooth sailing, but it was during the hard times that I was encouraged by the trust you put in me and reminded of the honor it is to serve,” said Pollert.
Pollert, who represents Carrington, has served in the House of Representatives since 1999, and took over as Majority leader in 2018.
He joins fellow Republican Rich Wardner, who currently serves as the Senate Majority leader, in announcing plans to the leave the state legislature at the end of their current terms.
Pollert's term expires on December 1st.
