(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota Tourism Division is encouraging state residents and out of state tourists to look for hidden gems in their local communities.

Sara Otte Coleman, North Dakota's Director of Tourism and Marketing, is asking residents to look for small businesses as the holiday season approaches.

"We are just encouraging people to think about those local artisans, those local store owners, the small businesses," Otte Coleman says, "To help make those communities vibrant, fun, and healthy. Think about supporting them!"

Otte Coleman suggests researching your destinations for the holiday season. She says this will help you look for and do business with staple businesses in communities large and small. For more information about North Dakota Tourism, you can click here
