(Bismarck, ND) -- In the wake of President Joe Biden's national vaccine mandate getting the seal of approval from OSHA, one of North Dakota's most prominent lawmakers is stepping up to the plate to voice his opposition to it.

"You always hear people stand up and say I've received my vaccine and I think this is wrong," said Lieutenant Brent Sanford on WDAY Radio's The Jay Thomas Show.  "No matter if it's the left or the right, rural or urban areas, people are reacting to this overreach, and this mandate would effect a lot of employers."

This all on the heels of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration announcing Thursday that they have approved the Biden Administration's plans for a Federal vaccine mandate for businesses with over 100 employees.

Meanwhile, North Dakota commerce groups say Biden's vaccine mandate could make worker shortages worse. The Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC says there are about 34-hundred open jobs in the area and the mandate could cause that number to go up.

The deadline to be vaccinated for those businesses, or put in place require weekly COVID-19 testing, is January 4th.
