(Minneapolis, MN) -- Xcel Energy is looking to increase its electricity rate.

The Minneapolis-based electric company filed a request with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission on Tuesday to increase its rate by about 20-percent over the next three years.

The move would add an average of 15-to-20-dollars per month to residential customers' bills. The change would vary in North Dakota and South Dakota as well, seeing as how different pricing for each of the three states is set independently.
