(Towner, ND) -- A 21-year-old man is facing prison time in connection with an assault on a woman and the attempted murder of a state trooper.
Charles Rill was sentenced Tuesday and will serve 17 years after he was pleading guilty to trying to strangle a woman, then punching and striking a state trooper with his baton.
Investigators say Rill also tried to take the trooper's gun while making threatening comments. Rill pleaded guilty to felony attempted murder, felony disarming or attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, and felony aggravated assault-domestic violence.
