Montana Amtrak Derailment Leads to North Dakota, Minnesota Delays

(Bismarck, ND) -- A Montana Amtrak derailment is causing travel delays in North Dakota and Minnesota.

The derailment happened Saturday in north-central Montana on a line running between Seattle and Chicago. Three people were killed, and there were numerous injuries among passengers and crew members.

It's going to be Tuesday at the earliest before the folks looking to ride Amtrak out of the Twin Cities can get on the train. Amtrak says service on the Empire Builder line will be delayed until crews can clear the area after Saturday's deadly derailment. All of Amtrak's west-bound trains out of Chicago now end in St. Paul.

The National Transportation and Safety Board is investigating.
