North Dakota to Use Subdivided Tribal Districts

(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota lawmakers are considering subdividing at least one district for at least one reservation.

The district would still give voters only one House member to vote for rather than two. Having the districts is designed to provide Native Americans a chance at winning a seat in the legislature.

Some members of the redistricting committee say if a subdivision isn't done now, a likely court battle would force the issue.
