NDHP Promotes Cashin to Sergeant

(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota Highway Patrol's most recent trooper of the year is getting a promotion.

Colonel Brandon Solberg announced Friday the promotion of Trooper Andrew Cashin and his reassignment as a regional sergeant serving the Northwest region.

Cashin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Bemidji State University in 2006. He joined the North Dakota Highway Patrol in 2010. After graduation from the Highway Patrol Academy in June 2010, he was stationed in Cavalier as a traffic enforcement trooper until 2016.

Since then, Cashin has served as a traffic enforcement trooper in Grand Forks where he currently serves. Cashin was recently named the 2020 NDHP Trooper of the Year.

In an interview with WDAY Radio after being announced Trooper of the Year, Cashin said his favorite part of the his job was teaching and training younger troopers, though now it appears he has a new mission.

Sergeant Cashin begins his duties as a Northwest regional sergeant, stationed in Williston, on August 28th.
