Tragic Scene After Single Engine Plane Crashes in Emmons County

(Emmons County, ND) -- A deadly single-engine plane crash is being confirmed in Emmons County.  

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says at approximately 7:40 am a crop spraying aircraft actively spraying pesticide into a sunflower field struck a high voltage Western Area Power Administration transmission line. The impact caused disabling damage to the aircraft and it crashed into a nearby field.

The pilot suffered fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name will be released pending notification of family.

The crash occurred three miles west and three miles south of Strasburg, ND near the intersection of 7th avenue and 92nd street SE, and remains under investigation by the NDHP and FAA with the assistance of the Emmons County Sheriff’s office.
