Two Car Crash Leads to Life-Threatening Injuries for Teen Near Grand Forks

(Northwood, ND) -- A 15-year-old boy is clinging to life after a crash three miles east of Northwood Thursday morning.

The North Dakota State Patrol says the teen was headed westbound on 4th Avenue NE. The driver of the other car involved, 55-year-old Darrell Repoyo, was driving north on 31st Street NE. That's when the front of the teen's Ford F-150 struck the right-hand side of the Repoyo's Chevrolet as the Chevy crossed in front of the Ford in the intersection. Both vehicles then left the roadway and entered the ditch of the northwest corner of the intersection.

The teen was ejected from his truck, then transported by ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with life-threatening injuries.

Repoyo was also  transported to Altru, but by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic on 4th Avenue NE has no traffic control signage. A yield sign is in place for northbound traffic on 31st Street NE.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
