Officials: 1,400 Fires Burn Across 100,000 Acres So Far This Year In North Dakota

(Bismarck, ND) -- Fires are burning across North Dakota this year at a rate faster than the last.  

The North Dakota Department of Emergency Services along with the Forest Service says about 14-hundred fires have burned  so far in 2021, destroying over 100-thousand acres statewide.  

That's a large increase from last year, when 921-fires burned about 12-thousand acres.  

This year has been one of the driest in the past 127-years of record keeping.
