(Pierre, SD)  --  Health officials are confirming a case of a Brazilian variant of COVID-19 in South Dakota.  The state is the third in the country to identify a case of the variant.  The variant is categorized as a variant of interest and of concern because it is believed to spread rapidly.  Minnesota has five cases and Nebraska has two.  The state Department of Health says there is no cause for alarm, and that vaccination is still the safest way to avoid the virus and its variants.
