Minnesota Declares Emergency Ahead Of Chauvin Verdict

(St. Paul, MN)  --  Minnesota is declaring a peacetime emergency to provide safety and protection ahead of a verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin [[ SHO-vin ]].  Governor Tim Walz took the action yesterday, allowing law enforcement from Nebraska and Ohio to help with any civil unrest and protests in the state.  It applies to seven counties in the Twin Cities metro area.  Walz noted state and local resources have been "exhausted" because of the response to Daunte Wright's death in Brooklyn Center.  He argued Minnesota "will be shaped by the response" to the verdict for days and weeks to come.
