Burgum's Salary Included In New Budget Despite His Request Otherwise

(Bismarck, ND)  --  The North Dakota Senate has included Governor Doug Burgum's salary in the new state budget, despite Burgum's request to decline it.  The wealthy former software executive ran in 2016 on a platform that pledged to reduce government spending starting with his salary.  Senate leaders included the over 284-thousand dollar salary because they said not doing so would leave no money available if Lieutenant Governor Brent Sanford had to take over.  Burgum has been donating previous government salary to causes that match up with the mission of the Doug Burgum Family Fund to support youth, education, health, and the arts.
