ND Proposal To Legalize Recreational Marijuana Goes Up In Smoke

(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota State Senate has rejected a proposal to legalize and tax recreational marijuana in the state.  The proposal passed the state House last month, but senators voted it down yesterday, calling marijuana an addictive, destructive drug.  Bismarck Representative Jason Dockter says he wanted North Dakota to be proactive ahead of citizen initiatives that might legalize marijuana through the state constitution, as South Dakota did last year.  In fact, supporters of the idea are already planning a constitutional amendment initiative for next year.
