State Senate Passes Bill To Set Deadline For Teacher Negotiations

(Bismarck, ND)  --  The North Dakota Senate is moving a bill forward that would set deadlines for teacher negotiations with their schools.  School districts say the June 1st deadline would make budgeting easier, and that teacher unions use stalling tactics.  Teachers opposed the bill, saying it doesn't give unions enough time to negotiate.  The deadline in the bill was extended to July 1st before passage.
