(STATEWIDE) -- North Dakota Republican Party Chairwoman Sandi Sanford says Monday's Republican Presidential Caucus was a success.

More than 1,900 turned out for the caucus, with Donald Trump receiving 84 percent of the vote.

"That wasn't a big surprise," Sanford said. "We know that North Dakotans are strong Trump supporters, but it exceeded my expectation."

As for Super Tuesday, she says it's going to be interesting to watch the trends across the United States.

"I think it's going to be really fun to see if, nationally, we see those same statistics. That's going to be the million dollar question."

Sanford made the comments following the caucus in an interview with The Flag/WDAY Radio News.
