IDF mistakenly kills three Israeli hostages

(Tel Aviv, Israel)  --  Israeli forces are apologizing for mistakenly killing three Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

IDF troops opened fire on the hostages during a battle in northern Gaza today after accidentally deeming them to be a threat.

After examining the bodies, the IDF confirmed the individuals were in fact hostages.

Officials stressed this is an area where soldiers have encountered many terrorists and suicide bombers.

The military believes the hostages either fled or were abandoned by the terrorists who held them captive.
