(Washington, DC) -- Hundreds were reportedly arrested Wednesday after demonstrators protested on Capitol Hill, with many flooding into the Cannon House Office Building and around the entire Capitol complex, according to Fox 5 Washington DC.

According to Fox 5, the arrests were made after pro-Palestinian protests broke out. By just after 2:30 p.m. local time in Washington, the House rotunda was full of protestors.

"We warned the protestors to stop demonstrating and when they did not comply we began arresting them," US Capitol Police said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

At just after 6 p.m. local time in Washington, Capitol Police reported the Cannon rotunda to be "all clear."

Police said at least three people, as of 4:05 p.m. local time in Washington, had been arrested and charged with assault on a police officer. Multiple media outlets say more than 300 people were arrested in total.

Fox 5 DC reports the protest was organized by the group Jewish Voice for Peace.
