(Washington, DC) – US House Republicans have chosen their Majority Leader as their nominee for the next US speaker, according to Fox News. The report says GOP lawmakers voted via secret ballot, with Steve Scalise winning 113 votes. Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan won 99 votes.
The Washington Post reports that the House has recessed without voting on the nomination.
