Burgum appears to qualify for debate stage

(FARGO) — It appears that Governor Doug Burgum has qualified for the second GOP debate, which is scheduled for Wednesday in Simi Valley, California.

POLITICO, in a report this morning, says Burgum has qualified in all three polls needed – a state poll in Iowa, conducted by The Trafalgar Group; a state poll in New Hampshire, conducted by InsiderAdvantage; and a national poll, conducted by The Trafalgar Group. The threshold for the polls included three percent in two national polls, or three percent in one national poll and three percent in polls of two different early-primary states.

However, the GOP has not made an official announcement regarding the paricipants in the upcoming debate. That announcement is expected to come in the next several days.

Burgum has also achieved the monetary threshold, having met the goal of 50,000 donors, with 200 unique donors in 20 different states.

According to POLITICO, Burgum would be the eighth candidate to qualify for the debate stage; Asa Hutchinson, former Arkansas Governor, is the only other candidate who made the first debate stage to now have not appeared to have made the second debate stage. Hutchinson has qualified in one national poll, conducted by Kaplan Strategies.
