(Washington, DC)  --  Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan is pressing the head of the FBI over a memo suggesting the bureau should begin infiltrating Catholic churches.

The internal memo that leaked from the FBI's Richmond, Virginia office earlier this year suggested Catholics likely had links to violent extremists.

In a hearing today, Jordan accused the FBI of targeting Catholic Americans for their religious beliefs.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said the FBI does not target religious organizations, and ordered the memo be removed once he learned about it.

He said the incident is under internal review.
