(Los Angeles, CA) -- California's largest school district will be closing its campuses for the next few days.

Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho says a last ditch effort to negotiate and avoid a strike fell through on Monday.

Sixty-five-thousand LAUSD employees will walk out amid a labor dispute.

Local 99 SEIU, which represents 30-thousand support employees like bus drivers, custodians and teachers aides, called for the strike after more than a year of failed contract negotiations.
