(Washington, DC) -- More than two-dozen Democratic and Republican senators are urging President Biden to delay the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey until it agrees to allow Sweden and Finland to join NATO.

All NATO states must approve admission of new members and, so far, Turkey is refusing to approve Sweden and Finland joining the alliance.

Twenty-seven senators wrote in a letter Thursday that Congress "cannot consider future support for Turkey," including the sale of the F-16 jets, until Turkey ratifies Sweden and Finland's NATO applications.
