(Ann Arbor, MI) -- Consumer sentiment is improving for the second straight month.
The University of Michigan's final reading for January rose nine-percent from last month.
The short-term economic outlook held steady while most Americans felt better about their personal finances and buying conditions for big ticket items.
However, the survey noted two-thirds of consumers expect an economic downturn this year.
