(Washington, D.C) -- A bill allowing the sale of E15 gasoline year-round is being introduced in the U.S. Senate.

Senator (R-ND) John Hoeven co-sponsored a bill on Thursday to extend the sale of E15 during the warm months of June through September. Ethanol is produced from corn and state data indicates that over 80-percent of the corn used in ethanol production is from North Dakota. Hoeven says boosting production of ethanol is not only good for North Dakota farmers but will also give consumers more options at the pump.

“Our legislation helps provide certainty to farmers, gives travelers more options at the pump and strikes a balance that is supported by both traditional and biofuels producers. That’s a win for our economy and energy security,” said Hoeven
