(Washington, DC) -- A secret so-called "ninja missile" is believed to have been used by the U.S. to kill al Qaeda's leader over the weekend.

Reports say a Biden administration official told reporters the six-bladed "Hellfire Ninja R9X" missile is what was used in the operation to target and killed Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri.

The R9X has six blades that extend on impact while not triggering an explosion.

The Pentagon and CIA have never publicly acknowledged the R9X.  It was developed under the Obama administration in an effort to reduce civilian casualties.

Reports indicate there were no civilian casualties. Al-Zawaahiri worked under former Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, and was believed to be an instrumental part of the 9/11 attacks carried out in the U.S.
