(San Francisco, CA) -- Airbnb is removing listings for lodging that once housed slaves.
The move comes after a TikTok video showing a listing for a "slave cabin" in Mississippi went viral.
In the video, Wynton Yates, a Black lawyer from New Orleans, shows screen grabs of a listing and reviews for "The Panther Burn Cottage at Belmont Plantation" in Greenville, Mississippi. In a statement to USA Today, Airbnb said "Properties that formerly housed the enslaved have no place on Airbnb" and apologized for not addressing the issue sooner.
It went on to say that it's developing new policies regarding listings that were once tied to slavery.
