(Grapevine, TX) -- GameStop is announcing layoffs in an effort to turn the company around.

The videogame retailer said Thursday that it fired Chief Financial Officer, Mike Recupero, and is cutting staff across all departments.

CNBC says the layoffs will be on the corporate side of GameStop and not at the retail stores, and are intended to "reduce bloat." It's not clear how many GameStop employees will be laid off, but a memo from CEO Matt Furlong said the company would be making "a number of reductions."
