(Miramar, FL) -- Spirit Airlines has postponed the vote to possibly merge with Frontier.

Frontier Airlines has made an offer of roughly two-point-four billion dollars to acquire Spirit, however rival airline JetBlue made a new offer of three-point-six billion dollars that Spirit is now considering.

If combined, Frontier and Spirit would become the fifth largest airline in the U.S, which Frontier's CEO says would mean big savings for people in more locations. However, some say that competition between the two airlines forces them to keep prices low, and a merger would allow them to raise fares.

The merger vote has been postponed until July 8th.
