(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida officials have decided not to order any COVID vaccine doses for children younger than five.

Florida is the only state that hasn't submitted a request with the federal government to vaccine doses specifically tailored for children ages six months to five years.

The Florida Department of Health said Wednesday it will leave it to individual doctors to request vaccines directly. The Health Department said in a statement it has "made it clear to the federal government that states do not need to be involved" in what it called the convoluted vaccine distribution process.
