(Washington, DC) -- Two companies have been awarded contracts to build lunar spacesuits for NASA.

The agency announced Wednesday that Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace will make spacesuits for astronauts to wear on the moon later this decade for NASA's Artemis program. The lunar mission aims to put the first woman and the first person of color on the moon by 2025.

The new spacesuits will also be worn by crew members on the International Space Station.
