(Chicago, IL) -- The U.S. women's soccer team and their male counterparts will be getting equal pay, pending a new collective bargaining agreement.

The women's team confirmed a settlement Wednesday with the U.S. Soccer Federation for 22-million-dollars in back pay, after a six-year-battle with the sport's governing body.

The settlement is a de facto acknowledgment the women were underpaid over the course of several years.
