(Cambridge, MA) -- Moderna is asking the FDA to approve its COVID-19 vaccine for children under six.

Currently, only kids ages five to eleven can be vaccinated for COVID in the U.S. and that's using a rival vaccine made by Pfizer. Moderna says a clinical trial shows its vaccine works on babies, toddlers and children under six using two small-dose shots.

Moderna's request comes as more children are testing positive for coronavirus in the first increase since January.
