March inflation jumps to 8.5%

(Washington, DC) -- Inflation is soaring even higher than economists expected.

New numbers just out this morning show the consumer price index jumped to eight-point-five percent last month. Analysts had forecast an eight-point-three percent rise over the past 12 months.

March's sky-high rate is the highest in 40 years.
