New EU sanctions coming Friday to ban Russian coal

(Belgium) -- The European Union is punishing Russia again for invading Ukraine seven weeks ago.

A fifth round of sanctions Friday includes a ban on imports of coal, wood, chemicals and other products. EU countries have also banned transactions with all four Russian banks, frozen some assets, and blocked many ships and trucks.

Meantime, the European Commission president is in Ukraine to hold talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
