(Elgin, TX) -- More than 47-thousand people in Texas are waking up in the dark.

A tornado outbreak caused power outages and damage to homes and schools Monday. Officials say more than a dozen tornadoes tore through several cities, killing at least one person. Oklahoma was also hit, but the threat isn't over.

Texas could see more tornadoes today along with Louisiana and Arkansas. Storms are also expected to slam Mississippi and Alabama.
