(Houston, TX) -- A major California utility is teaming up with another automaker to use a vehicle to power homes.

The Pacific Gas and Electric Company is teaming up with Ford to look into how the electric F-150 Lightning can power homes. The announcement was made at an energy conference in Texas.

The news comes as PG&E and General Motors are working on a similar concept. They're working to make electric GM vehicles capable of powering a home in case of a power outage or grid failure.
