(Washington, DC) -- A bipartisan bill aims to combat social media addiction.

It's being brought forward by Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming. Klobuchar's office confirmed Thursday the bill would task the National Science Foundation and National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine with studying ways platforms like Facebook could address the problem.

The Federal Trade Commission would then hold companies accountable for not complying.
