(New York, NY) -- Two big players in the discount airline industry are announcing a merger.

Ultra-low discount carriers Spirit and Frontier will merge operations in a deal valued at six-point-six billion dollars. Combined, the two airlines - based in Colorado and Florida - will have about five percent of market share while conducting more than a thousand daily flights to 145 destinations in 19 countries.

No lay offs are expected as a result of the merger and corporate leaders believe they'll actually add ten-thousand new jobs by 2026.
