(New York, NY) -- The next step in protecting more children from coronavirus is underway.

Pfizer has asked the FDA to expand its use of vaccines to kids under five. At this time, it would only be for two shots. The company says it will continue to research how well three doses work in this age group.

Federal regulators will meet in two weeks to review data. A CDC panel will then vote on whether to sign off.

A final decision is expected as soon as the end of this month.
