(Geneva) -- New efforts are unfolding today to stop Russia from possibly invading Ukraine.

The United Nations Security Council is meeting for the first time to discuss the threat. Diplomats from Russia and Ukraine will speak.

World leaders will also hear from U.S. officials who say this is a chance for Moscow to explain why it has 100-thousand troops gathered at the border. This comes as senators are on the verge of approving sanctions if Russia does attack.
