Washington, DC --  With last minute shoppers prowling stores online and in person, holiday sales this year are estimated to be well over 800-billion-dollars.  The National Retail Federation reports holiday sales from November and December could be up as much as eleven-and-a-half-percent from 2020.  Sale estimates for the 2021 holiday season are predicted to be between 840-billion and 859-billion-dollars.  In comparison, the nation only spent 416-billion-dollars during the holiday season in 2002.

The NRF says consumers are spending almost a thousand dollars on gifts, holiday items and other non-gift purchases for themselves and family this holiday season.  Overall, spending for the holidays is slightly down from the pre-pandemic high of one-thousand-47-dollars in 2019.
