New Gun Owners More Likely To Be Women And POC

(Boston, MA)  --  A recent study says new gun owners are "more likely to be Black and they're more likely to be female."  The study conducted by Professor Matt Miller at Northeastern University revealed over five-million adults in the U.S. became first-time gun owners between early 2020 and April 2021.  That's over double of what was reported in 2019.  The total number of gun purchases shot up by just under three-million from 2019 to 2020.  Among those purchases for first time gun owners, researchers say approximately half were female and nearly half were people of color.
